UAB Printer as Storage

I've installed an EPSON STYLUS CX 6400 printer and it seems to functions
properly but, it is listed in My Computer as removable storage and there is
no listing for a printer at all. A "Sendto" item has even been added to the
r-click menu "G". If I select sendto "G" there is a dialogue box that pops
up saying, "please insert disk". Sendto "G" doesn't show in either of the
user accounts or in the system32 folder Sendto folders.

The "Safely Remove Hardware" icon has been added to the system tray. In
device manager it is listed in Drives as "Storage USB Device". There is no
listing for a printer at all. My last printer was also a USB combination
printer/scanner. It was a "HP" 750 series and did not do this. I have
downloaded and installed the latest hardware and twain drivers for the unit.

This is my first experience with an EPSON and to me, this doesn't seem
right. If someone would shed a little light on this subject, it would be
greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Try this way,

First, unplug the printer from the USB hub; go to add or
remove program to remove the printer drivers.
Reboot in safe mode and login as administratot; go to
device manager, double click the universal serial bus
controller, highlight the XXX PCI to USB Host Controller,
right click and select uninstall, click apply and OK then
reboot.
After reboot, the find new hardware message should appear
and reload the USB drivers. Go to device manager again
and check that the XXX PCI to USB Host Controller is
there and windows confirmed it is working properly.
Re-install the printer drivers and check again.

Hope it helps.

Do not know muich about that EPSON model. Do this printer happen to be able
to access digital camera media directly (not using the PC)??

Hello Yves,

Yes, it has the ability to access cards. After this post and doing a little
thinking, I decided that this was the reason for the strange, "to me",
behavior. I re-installed the updated drivers. That got the PC to recognize
the printer. Then I disabled the "G" drive in the hardware profile, since I
don't use the card reader. All is well now.

Thank you for your attention to my problem.
