Two charts from one Excel spreadsheet need to update in Powerpoint

I have two charts in an Excel spreadsheet and I have pasted links into a
Powerpoint presentation. I want them to update when I open the presentation,
and they are. Except it is running the macro (attached to the Excel
spreadsheet) twice. It is running the macro once for each graph when really
running the macro once should update both graphs.

Any ideas on how to make it update both charts off of one macro run?

PPT updates each link as it finds it. In other words, for each link, it
activates Excel, updates, closes Excel.

Since it deals with one link at a time, no look-ahead or look-back, it doesn't
know that it might be opening the same file multiple times.

That's the problem in a nutshell.

Any ideas on how to make it update both charts off of one macro run?

Can't think of one offhand ... sorry.
But at least now you know why.
