powerpoint template

I have a template in excel that I use to generate charts. These charts are
then to be linked into powerpoint for a report. (I have to generate many
reports). I am able to do this but when I use the excel template again, I
have to save it by another name. The link to the powerpoint in broken. When
I go to links - change source and try and redirect the link it comes up with
the whole spreadsheet.

My question is = Is there a way to link a powerpoint template to an excel
template so that when you input the data into the excell template it carries
through to the powerpoint presentation?

Thanks for this it will same me a lot of time. I did see your earlier link
to a similar post but couldn't work it out but have now managed to get it to
work.
