TUSL2-C and Celeron PPGA 500

Hello everyone!
I've installed a celeron 500 PPGA in my TUSL2-C, and a dual frequency beep
started.. the MoBo won't start. After this I found a document on Asus site
that say: TUSL2-C can't support celeron PPGA due to chipset limitations.
The PPGA has a 2V core, FC-PGA has 1,5V. Have I burned the CPU?? MoBo
works just fine.

Many thanks!

I have this motherboard and it works best with Tulatin Core Processors.
I use a Tulatin Core Celeron with the 256k L2 Cache and it runs pretty
good. It is a waste to put a 500Mhz Processor on a motherboard that can
handle a 1.4Gig P3 Tulatin Core Processor.

Sure! Normally this MoBo works with a PIII933, but for try a Celeron PPGA I
put the PPGA cpu in this MoBo that doesn't support PPGA.. What I want to
know now is: does the MoBo burn the PPGA cpu due to cpu core voltage
differences? Now the CPU won't start anymore (but the MoBo works just
fine!).

PPGA requires 2.0 volt. FCPGA 1.65-1.75, and fcpga2 (Tualatins) 1.5
volt.

Do you know the cpu support site from asus ?

http://www.asus.com/support/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx

Then you see that Celeron 533A is the slowest. I believe that 533A was
made in both a 2.0 volt ppga version and a 1.7 volt fcpga version.

So I don't think you can use your cpu !

If you have not tried second hand market before. Here is the chance.

For almost nothing at www.ebay.com , or ebay.co.uk or ebay.de or
whatever.

The motherboard should not have been burned by your 'test'.

best regards

John
