Turnpike, Dial up Modem and Broadband, advice please.

I have just successfully installed PlusNet Broadband and while all is
working successfully and I have my phone line working alongside it, I
cannot get my US Robotics 3 Com dial up Modem cum Answer phone to work
alongside it. What needs to be configured, the dial up Modem or the
PlusNet installation.
Also, Turnpike is working with the ADSL but I would appreciate any
tweekings I should do, (if any) to get the best performance, is there a
way of testing ADSL.
Finally, I have used a multiple USB connector to plug in the ADSL modem,
will that detract from the speed of my Broadband performance.

There are several "Tweaks" (Registry modifications) that can improve
Broadband throughput on XP. Also, there are numerous sites where
you can test your speeds.
