turning off read only on pics

when I transfer my pics from my camera to a cd-rw I cannot
edit them or resize them I get the message that the file
is read-only. How do I edit my pics once they are on the
cd? I am using Roxio CD creator

Copy the files you want to edit or resize on your hard drive from your CD.
Do the editing and resizing on your hard drive and then copy these new files
on your CD.
