"Drawing failed" opening pics from CD

I tried to open some jpeg's on my CD. I tried to use Windows Explorer (having
successfully used it before), but when I try to simply open the pic, I get a
"drawing failed" message. Can't open the pics using other applications
either. I took the CD with the pics to my PC at work and it works fine. By
the way, I can open other pics that I have filed on the hard drive fine. It
seems like this CD I'm using has something different on it, because I also
cannot copy those pics to hard drive and try to open that way.

Also, I've tried to burn pics to CDs in the past and only been able to burn
a few (<10) pics to the CD. Do I likely have a memory problem?

Please reply to "(e-mail address removed)". Thanks.

Does this occur with all CDs or just this
particular one?

Was this CD burned on this computer
using the same operating system?

I actually don't have another CD with pics on it to try. I could burn one to
use.

This CD was made on another PC that is far away. (In other words, I don't
have access to it except through snail mail.)

I'm just puzzled by the fact that the pics on the CD open up at my work PC
just fine. There has to be something about my settings at home that messes it
up.
