Turning off incrementing in autofill

Does anyone know how to set a cell so that when you autofill down from
it, it *doesn't* increment the values?

F'r instance, you have 1 in the top cell, want to autofill down 20 rows
but have 1 in all of them, not 1-20.

I'm using Excel 2000 and I know about holding ctrl down while I
autofill to turn this feature on and off. But some cells with 1 in them
do it and some don't and I can't figure out how to change them!

Hi!

Just drag down while holding the left mouse button, or

Select the range that you want to fill.
Enter the value that you want filled in the formula bar
then hit CTRL ENTER

Excel's default behavior when you put 1 in a cell and left-click drag down is
to place a 1 in each cell.

If you right-click and drag down then release right button you will get a
menu.

Copy Cells or Fill Series.

Why Excel would choose to fill series when it sees only a 1 in the top cell is
a mystery to me.
