Turn Off Computer options missing "Hiberbate"

tek

When I click "Turn Off Computer" I use to receive 4 options:
Hibernate, Stand By, Turn Off, Restart. For some strange reason after
I had to reinstall XP Home on my laptop I only receive 3 options:
Stand By, Turn Off, Restart. I've searched Google for some answers but
the only one I found that is close to a resolution is to hold the
SHIFT key while the mouse pointer hovers over the Stand By option to
toggle the options. But how do I get the Hibernate option back fully
without having to toggle it with the mouse and SHIFT key?

Download the Hot Fix and Registry Fix from the following link:

Hibernate as a Seprate Option
Download Hot Fix Here
Download Registry File

http://mindyourbrain.1gig.biz/TipsandTricks/tipshome.htm

First apply the registry fix. Click "Download Registry File" and click Run.
You will be notify that the entry has been added to Registry. Secondly, click
on "Download Hot Fix File", click Open and complete the Setup Wizard. Restart
your PC and next time you will have the Hibernate button in Shut Down dialog
box.

You can also save both Registry and Hot Fix file for future use.

Hope this help, let us know!

When you click "Turn Off Computer" on the Start menu, the Hibernate button does not appear in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005:

Is the "hotfix" worth the trouble? I almost always put my computer
into hibernation rather than shut it down, and I do it by pressing the
keys (ONE AFTER THE OTHER) Windows > u > h

I use the shortcut keys CTRL+ESC-U-H myself, in order to put the system into Hibernation. But just in case, if you're an user who prefers mouse clicks instead of using the shortcut keys, then the Hotfix is very useful.
