Trying to use Outlook 2003 to send/receive Juno e-mail messages.

Hi,

I'm trying to use Outlook 2003 to send and receive Juno e-mail messages.
I've followed the setup instructions (obtained from Gateway, MS, and Juno) to
the letter, and I still get an error message that asks me to "...verify that
the port and SSL information is correct...". I've tried changing these
settings, but I just get more error messages.

So far: Gateway has referred me to MS, MS has referred me back to Gateway,
Gateway has referred me to Juno, Juno has referred me back to MS... No one
wants to take responsibility for this. What do I do?

P.S. My Outlook 2003 doesn't work with AOL either, and they have referred me
back to MS.

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

Are you using antispam or antivirus software? if so, disable email scanning
until you get it working. If you have a firewall, insure that it is allowing
outlook to connect.

I assume you have a paid juno account, as the free ones will not work with
Outlook. What authentication method are you using? Did you enable SPA?
(Don't unless the instructions tell you to.)

Thanks for taking on the challenge, Diane.
I'm using anti-virus, so I turned it off, same result.
I'm using a firewall, so I turned it off, same result.
I tried various combinations of the above, same result.
I have a paid Juno account.
SPA is disabled.
Do you think it's worth a try to uninstall AOL and Juno and start from
scratch?

I don;t see how the apps code could make a difference - I'd try a new
profile - create it in control panel, mail. don't copy or delete the current
one - make a new one using a new name, using one account to verify it works.
you ma want to see if you can get it working in OE too. That will help
determine if it's with outlook or something in between.

I tried creating a new profile for Juno and one for AOL, followed your
instructions very closely, same result.
Regarding "...get it working in OE...", what does that mean?

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

Set up your accounts in Outlook Express - do they work correctly or do you
have problems? if it works, then it's a problem in Outlook, if it fails it's
with juno or windows.
