Trying to re-install Norton Antivirus - Error Message

Hi,

I am trying to re-install Norton Antivirus 2002 on my computer and keep
getting the following message:

Error 1304. Error writing to file c:/program files/norton
antivirus/qconres.dll Verify you have access to that directory

I am the only user of my computer so assume I have access to everything?

Well, it depends. It can be:

1. You are not Administrator or Power User. So you have no write
access to your "Program Files" directory.

2. You had NA before and didn't have reinstalled it properly. So that
..dll does loading into memory every time you start your computer.
Naturally it can't be rewriten until it would unload. You can try
installing NA in different directory and see what will happens.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for that.

I tried running PC bugfix and it did get a lot of error messages. It is
quite expensive though - are there any other (cheaper) ways of fixing this
problem?

Hi Andrey,

I tried another directory however that didn't work.

How can I tell if I am Administrator or Power User?

As for your question, sure, check with Norton Support/Forums. As for your
mention of PC Bugfix, I did not suggest nor mention them. You must have
gained that information from the broad link I provided.

As for your profile status: Go to Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. It
will clearly note whether you are an admin or not. Good luck!
