Trying to join a domain

R

~Richard

I'm trying to join our parent domain as an addtional DC
and I'm getting denied with a new creditials window
popping up. I know I'm using the correct name & password
to an account with sufficient privilages in the domain. I
did make it a child domain, with the server thats trying
to join, but It was decided just to make it part of the
parent. I dcpromo'ed it out to a member server for now,
but I just cant join the parent,,,I'm obviously missing
something .....Any1 got any ideas?

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,

In addition to what Chriss has suggested I might take a look at delegating
the DNS. Please take a look at the following MSKB Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=255248

However, that might not be applicable. I am not sure that I am following
your post. You have a parent domain with at least one DC. You have a child
domain with only one DC ( or multiple DCs ). Did you dcpromo this DC from
the child domain to member server status ( assuming that it is not the only
DC in the child domain ), join it to the parent domain as a member server
and then try to run dcpromo on it to make it a DC in the parent domain? Is
this what you did?

HTH,

Cary
