Trying to create a 'quiet' user profile

Hi,

I'm trying to create a user profile that will give me access only to word
processing and music streaming, so that I can work while listening to music,
but without the distractions of the internet/e-mail/messaging etc. I've
created a 'work' user profile and removed all of the program icons other
than word and Napster. But when I try to use Group Policies to remove the
'All Programs' menu, it also removes the menu in all the other user profiles
as well.

I know that 'self discipline' would be the obvious option here. But to help
my discipline along, it would be nice to somehow create an internet-free,
quiet profile.

Does anyone know how this can be achieved???

Thanks,

Anda.

Disable the networking when you log on.

Either disable it through the network control panel or actually unhook the
wire/turn off the wireless.

Profiles were not really designed to do what you are attempting to do.

Your problem might be in part because you 'Programs' menu is in the 'All
Users' profile.

On my machine. I do not keep anything other than a few start ups under
the 'All Users' profile. I then can put the apps that I want each user
to use only in their profiles 'Programs' menu.
