Problem with User Profile

Hi, am running XP Pro with 2 user profiles. I am experiencing a problem with
one profile and not the other. With the problem profile, the PC hangs shortly
after log-in and goes to a blue screen. Whenever I re-boot, it does a check
disk and the consistent error is that "ntuser.dat.log entry is not valid".

So my theory (and I would welcome challenge) is that if I delete and
re-create the profile, it may solve the problem? What do you think?

Also, if I do delete the profile and I accept the option to delete files,
what does this routine actually delete? (I want to back up relevant files to
restore later). I know it deletes the user's Favorites and "My Documents",
but what else?

Many thanks for your assistance!

Any personal settings including peronalized settings from software are
mantained within the profile. The folder "c:\documents and
settings\profilename" will be deleted.
Backup any documents to another location and blow away the profile.
If you cannot logon using the profile any personilized setting; software or
otherwise are irrelevant.

Instead of deleting the corrupted profile folder, a much safer course would
be to do this:
1. Reboot the machine.
2. Log on as Administrator.
3. Rename the corrupted profile folder, e.g. rename
c:\documents and settings\Eve to c:\documents and settings\Eve.bad
4. Log on as Eve
Windows will create a new "Eve" profile folder. However all your files will
still be in the renamed folder. Furthermore, if you need to reverse the
action then you can do it by another rename.
