Troubleshooting

Hi
Using Access 2003 in Win XP all updates installed.
Has previously worked well.
Can't even open Northwind Sample database.
Get long period of hanging followed by "Access has encountered a problem
screen".
Then send error report and Access closes.
Database opens and hangs before showing first form.
Tried "compact and repair".
and Decompile from command line.
and Detect and repair.
and Reinstalled Office.
Searched knowledge base.
Identical installation on another PC works fine.
Any ideas as to how to troubleshoot from now...?

Look in the folder where the database is stored and see if you find a stray lock file (it'll end with .ldb) ... delete
it, then try to open the database again.

Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately deleting the lockfile made no difference.
The lock file was also recreated at some stage before Access closed down.
