Trouble with System File Checker

F

Bought a used PC with WinXP Pro SP-1 on it.

Turns out it is illegitimate (but I had placed I386 in the root
directory and SFC always worked).

Purchased a legitimate version from Microsoft with SP-2 on the CD.

Somehow, when I run SFC now, it doesn't run by itself. I have to VERY
frequently press the key that says Retry. About a half dozen times the
system asks for the new CD - but most of the time, It just asks for the
original CD I got with the system.

So, I have to sit there and maybe a hundred or more time press Retry.

I'd like to get SFC back to where it runs by itself. Perhaps my Setup
SourcePath is incorrect and/or my ServicePackSourcePack are incorrect
in the Registry. Help!!!

In regedit, the entries "InstallationSources" & "SourcePath" both need to
be the same as youre cdrom listed in my computer,if run from the cd...You
can/should also type in cmd:Sfc /REVERT or it may be Sfc /Scannow /REVERT
Also, even with the pop-up text you recieved during Sfc,Sfc is working...

Changed the Installation Sources to C:\ and the SourcePath to C:\ and
put the i386 folder in the root directory. Did NOT use the REVERT
switch because I don't know what it's for. I have the same problem.
Keeps asking for one or the other of my CD's. It should be looking at
the C: drive, shouldn't it?
