Hello,
My bro has a system that was WinXP Home, upgraded to WinXP Pro. He had a
hard drive that started failing and didn't act quick enough so things got a
little worse over time. Now the new drive is installed and things seems to
work, but after each login the system file checker comes up and asks for the
disc. He puts it in and it runs for a while and appears to do its thing,
only this is repeated each time he reboots/logs in. I had him try sfc
/purgecache and that ran for awhile and seemed to do what it was supposed
to, then had him run sfc /checknow which ran and seemed to do what it
should, but the problem still persists? He tried a reinstall of SP2, but
that didn't help.
Any ideas (other than reformat/reinstall) or KB articles I can send him?
TIA!
