Trouble with bluetooth component

On start up an error screen appears with "Error in irprops.cpl Missing Entry :BluetoothAuthenticationAgent
I have previously installed the Microsoft Desktop for Bluetooth but had to uninstall it after a day as it stopped recognising the keyboard. I have just recently upgraded from MS Windows ME and I think the re-installing of some of my older software may have uset something. On re-installing the entire bluetooth desktop including the bluetooth transmitter the installation is halted when the installation program is unable to find required bluetooth components and a system restart is recommended. Upon restart the error message described above (irprops.cpl etc) comes up. I have tried reinstalling XP over the top again but it makes no difference. Any thoughts?
