Trouble when booting Xp Home

Apparently the installation went OK. I had to remove a
bad stick of RAM to get it to install, though.
Now when my PC is going through the boot sequence, it says
there was some problem, and asks if I want to continue in
Safe Mode (with 3 options) or in Windows Normal mode.

When I try to continue in normal mode, it runs for a few
seconds, then reboots and sends me back to that same
options screen.

It will allow me to boot in safe mode. How can I locate
the reasons for it not booting in normal mode? Is it a
BIOS or hardware issue? It didn't like my video card
(GeForce4 ti4600) but I still don't know how to correct
this, because I can't use my Internet to update any
drivers since I can't change any settings in safe mode.

I just tried my WinXP Home machine and when I boot into "Safe with
Networking" mode, I AM able to update drivers from Device Manager. [This
mode allows you to DL from the Internet.]

An easy test to see if your problem is related to video (I strongly suspect
as much) is to interrupt the boot process and choose "Enable VGA Mode". If
everything works fine without rebooting, this will prove that the video
drivers are the culprit. Then you can do as I suggest above and DL/install
the latest drivers. Failing that, you can delete the video display card from
Device Manager and let it reboot, defaulting to a standard VGA (butt ugly)
but gets you an opportunity to install new/workable drivers.
