Trouble uninstalling games

L

LindaD

I am trying to uninstall several games (such as The Sims and Jack the
Ripper). I had absolutely no problem installing or playing any of them, but
when I try to uninstall them I get the message "The Installshield Engine
(kernel.exe) could not be launched. No such interface supported." I just
recently upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Home Edition, but I don't
think that has anything to do with it because I installed the games on XP
with no problem. Please help.

The old game of The Sims 1 can be uninstalled by simply deleting the Sims
folder. The whole game is in there, once deleted you might have some
icons left, but you should be able to reinstall the game.

You upgraded your computer from ME to XP just recently? Wow. Welcome to
the century. :)

You might consider backing up all your files, and reinstalling XP from
scratch (format the HD and install the full version of XP Home.

I don't know if you even can upgrade from ME to XP? If you're using an
upgrade version of XP well don't format your HD until you're sure you can
install the OS via update check (Usually need the original ME install CD
or something like that).

Good luck,
