Trouble sending e-mail

rebeccadavis4

I can receive but cannot send e-mail. Here is the error message that I get.
I've checked all of my settings and they appear to be correct.
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'rebecca_gripp@urscorpcom'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.1.1 <rebecca_gripp@urscorpcom> recipient invalid
domain', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

Look at that email address. Many email servers are unable to handle
addresses
with a space inside the address. Also, that address is missing at least one
period
somewhere after the @ sign, probably just before com.

G

Gary VanderMolen

As the error message says, the domain portion of that email address
is not valid. It should be (e-mail address removed).
Note the required period in front of 'com'.

I am having trouble sending e-mail also. I get my e-mail just fine. This
problem started April 1, or I didn't notice until then, I downloaded and
installed Vista SP1 on March 30. What is my solution? Thanks

What if any antivirus programs, antispyware programs, firewall programs,
and other security programs do you have? Some of them start causing
more problems if you have Vista SP1 installed.

Your settings look fine, and I was able to connect with that server
(smtp.urhere.net).

Windows Defender does not cause this problem. The most likely culprit
is Trend Micro antivirus, even though you have it turned off. As a test,
uninstall that antivirus, reboot, then try Windows Mail again.
If no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

I highly recommend you do not attempt to remove SP1.
We can help you resolve your issues.
Sometimes a Windows update will bring to the foreground problems
that were festering just below the surface before. Don't ignore
those festering problems, as they would have caused major problems
sooner or later.

Since the antivirus may have corrupted your mail account,
delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate
the account.

If still no joy, I recommend upgrading to Windows Live Mail.
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Once you get your email squared away, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like:
AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those, during the install phase you must select custom
install, and then deselect the email scanning option.

Basically, no. You can't get a virus just by downloading email, you have to
OPEN it, and possibly the attachment (if any) as well. Any good AV will see
any virus when you open the email and/or attachment...

As long as the virus doesn't escape from your email, it won't cause
any problems. If you want to see Symantec (Norton), the originator
of email scanning, admit this, look at:

<
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...88256c7500723cf0?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam>

If it does escape from your email, it will then be found.

Windows Defender does not cause this problem. The most likely culprit
is Trend Micro antivirus, even though you have it turned off. As a
test,
uninstall that antivirus, reboot, then try Windows Mail again.
If no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

I am having trouble sending e-mail also. I get my e-mail just fine.
This
problem started April 1, or I didn't notice until then, I downloaded
and
installed Vista SP1 on March 30. What is my solution? Thanks

:

Have you recently updated yor VISTA to SP1?

I can receive but cannot send e-mail. Here is the error message
that I get.
I've checked all of my settings and they appear to be correct.
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might
not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving
this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and
read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help
determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service
provider.

Delete her account too.

To remove accounts, click Tools, then Accounts, then the account you
want to remove, then Remove, then follow any other instructions it gives
you. To add accounts, use the original instructions from your email
provider.

Windows Mail is a part of Vista, and very hard to remove without
removing the rest of Vista.

I have an account setup for my wife aqnd it does the same thing. So do I
delete her account too, or the whole windows mail program? How do I do that
? Thanks

Since the antivirus may have corrupted your mail account,
delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate
the account.

If still no joy, I recommend upgrading to Windows Live Mail.
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Once you get your email squared away, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like:
AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those, during the install phase you must select custom
install, and then deselect the email scanning option.

having went thru. Now I'm running without a virus program. What next?
Thanks

Your settings look fine, and I was able to connect with that server
(smtp.urhere.net).

Looks like you've entered the email address incorrectly. Try adding a
period
before the com in the address.
