trouble installing software on Windows XP

Hi All ,

Recently I tried installing Winrunner version 7.0 onto Windows XP in

my comp ,but installation fails at the first step only , the error
shown is as

16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.Choose close to
terminate the application.


Any advices in how to resolve the above issue.

..But my question is , is there a> compatibilty issue with Windows XP
when it comes to winrunner?? Many> people have said u cant install
winrunner onto windows XP ,but

1colleague of mine said winrunner is running fine on his Windows XP
(Proffesional) ,same as mine .So any ideas on how to resolve the above
problem ,and ya I am using the tool for home use .Any kind of input
would be great .

Note that this problem is more than often caused by malware (viruses,
worms, trojans).
