Trojan Horse

I am running XP Home Edition. Run AVG every morning, and am being told that
there is a Trojan Horse Collected.L in a "System Volume
Information\_restore,etc." file, but it won't let me put it in the vault and
I cannot find this folder to delete it. Just started using XP so am still
learning. When I run Housecall it doesn't pick it up. Tried finding this
virus in Housecall Encyclopedia, and it doesn't exist. Any help would
certainly be appreciated. Thank you.

Not an answer to your problem I'm afraid just to say that I have a similar
problem with a trojan called Downloader.Keenval.C stored in the same
location - System Volume Information.

I cannot even access this folder although it appears to be empty under
right-click properties. As I type I'm discovering that it may be some kind
of Adware and if I find a way of getting rid I'll post again.

The System Volume Information is where system restore files are. To clean it
turn off system restore and reboot. It will delete all restore points. Make
sure you turn system restore back on and create a new restore point.

Yep,

Just turn off System Restore...reboot...this cleans out that
folder...and you are good to go. Just turn Restore back on.
