Trojan and System Restore

Ok so this is the problem... whilst using my pc, during startup and shut down and also whilst 'attempting' system restore (it wont let me - just get the message that system restore was incomplete and to try again - i tried to the earliest restore point, ie october 3rd, but it still didnt work) anyway.. i get this message

is found in file
C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{E466FB10-B916-475D-B108-80AEF1C6A536}\RP248\A0051146.e

To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows


^^^^^^^^^^^ So i made sure avg was as up to date as possible and ran it - nothing is found apparently my pc is 'ok' *sighs* so then i searched for the file with search function and also looked in c drive (i didnt fiddle with anything i know i shouldnt but still couldnt find it anyway) Ive also run ad aware and nothing came of that... im really starting to run out of ideas now and just want to get rid of this trojan... i dont know how to 'wipe my c drive clean' as some of my friends have suggested... ANYONE???!!!!???!

Turn off System Restore. Turn off the computer. restart the computer and
turn System Restore back on. The message will go away.

The virus is in a restore point. You don't want to restore it.

Thanks to you both for answering - i found your advice on another post too bdog - just turned it off, rebooted, avgd, utrned it on, rebooted, avging at the moment and will then create a system restore point - not that hard to do its just hard to find the information telling me/advising me how to do it etc - Mostly appreciated though!! Free online antivirus check. It's helped me in the past when my own
antivirus would not do the job.
