Trend Micro antivirus or Kaspersky 7?

I'm getting my computer worked on by a technician who is doing a clean
sweep of the machine,
I have Trend Micro antivirus and he recommends Kaspersky 7. The
Trend Micro antivirus is good until 1-1-09. He recommended I just
keep this software until it runs out and then put in
Kaspersky 7.

Is this good advice? Is Kaspersky 7 a much better upgrade to justify
dumping Trend Micro antivirus at this time?

If you are going to dump Trend, look into NOD32. Very good detection
rate and lighter on resources than Kaspersky. What other anti-malware
programs do you use?

I dumped Trend a couple of years ago when it got too bloated. I went
with and still use Kaspersky. I wouldn't dump trend until expiration
unless it was free to begin with. Nod 32 is good too.

Yes, definitely. NOD32 is better!

I agree, NOD32 yes. After dumping Norton, I've used NOD32 for eight years
now with no problems.

Keep what you have. Eveyone has given their personal (biased) experience
which may or may not have anything to do with how good or bad it really is.
An idea might be to go to CNET and/or ICSA Labs and get a review from there.

And you think CNET or ICSA Labs reviews will actually tell how good or bad
a product really is? At the very least, you should have directed the OP to
a site which has more realistic, comparative reviews so they can really
judge the effectiveness of various products. A site like:

is a good starting point. Of course, that still doesn't tell the OP what
sort of impact the AV program has on the average computer, how buggy the
software/updating has been over time, or how often it updates itself.
Reading all of the responses to a query in here is a good way to get the
"personal (biased) experience" of a number of people and gain that sort of
information.



[For the OP] By the way, I've been using NOD32 for several years now and
recommend it for all of my customers. Of course, that is merely my
"personal (biased) experience".
