Transparency in PNG File

Ron

I created a PowerPoint presentation using some images imported from PNG
files with transparent portions. They work fine on my Version 2003 PPT (as
they did in 2002). When I sent the file to a client using a Windows
computer and PowerPoint 2002, she saw black where it was supposed to be
transparent. When she used the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer, the images looked
fine (but she couldn't edit of course).

Is there any setting, or required filters for PowerPoint that would allow
her to view the images with transparency within the application?

Thanks,
Ron

I ran into this a long time ago, when I used the wrong method for inserting
a graphic into PowerPoint. Always save the file to your hard drive (with or
without transparency settings) and use -- Insert | Pictures | From Files
method.

Try saving the file to the graphic to the hard drive and re-inserting.

Post back and let us know if this resolves the transparency portability
issue.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I reinserted the PNGs using the "Insert Picture" button on the "Picture"
toolbar. (Is this the same as the Insert | Pictures | From Files ?)
Unfortunately, this did not correct the problem.

I thought this was only a problem with one person's computer because of
incomplete install, but another person also saw black behind newly inserted
pictures.

I am using PowerPoint 2003, and they are viewing with PPT XP. Could this be
a factor?
The weird part is that it plays back fine if they use the new PowerPoint
viewer so I am wondering if they both are missing some filters or DLLs.

Any other ideas on this??? Would someone like to see a sample of the file?

Thanks,
Ron

Hello,

There were some problems in Office XP (not just PowerPoint 2002) around
handling transparency.
