Transferring Contacts from OL 2003 into 2007

After spending many hours the other night trying to transfe my contacts the
way the techies in this forumn were telling me to do it....they said do NOT
Export/Import---and to do it with backup, yada yada yada----with tons of
instructions.....well---i really TRIED to do what all of the strings of
instructions said.....and could NOT make it work-----was about ready to just
send myself vcards of all my contacts!!! Then tonight I thought I'd just try
doing it the old fashioned way---Export from my old '03 and Import into my
new '07----using the old method I've been using for years---and ya know
what?? It worked like a charm!! I'm sure there's a reason for all the
suggestions on why not to do it this way---but short of hiring someone to do
this for me, I truly wasn't sure how I was going to get my data base re-set
back up. I just thought I'd post this in case anyone else was having the
same problem. I've learned so much from this site and like to share when
something works for me.

Impossible to comment since you provided no real information. Export and
import routinely loses or changes Outlook data to which the many posts here
attest. Simply opening your previous data file preserves everything. It's
not difficult. We, of course, have no idea what you really tried or what
happened but the record needs to be kept straight.

I'm really glad that what you tried worked, but if you had trouble using the
original PST then you tried to hard. The process is very easy. with
Outlook closed, copy the PST from one PC to the other, add it to the mail
profile with the Mail applet in Control Panel, then open Outlook. All done.

Wow--Brian, you make it sound so simple!! Everything else I've read on this
topic keeps sending me to other links where I got terribly confused and
frustrated. Then I'm sure I started making dumb mistakes and nothing worked!
I do thank you for your patience....some of the mvps don't understand that
not all of us have had the education that you guys have. I'm pretty much
self-taught and love learning new and better ways of getting things done. I
will try this tonight when I get home. Thanks again for keeping it simple!
