Transfering data from form to database

Guest

Hello, I'm using Microsoft Frontpage 2003; I've created a database using the
wizard, however the
message I keep getting when I try to download information onto the database
is: "The operation
failed, if this continues please contact your server administrator".

I have emailed my ISP, with this query, their suggestion was to recalculate
the hyperlinks; however, this has not worked.

Could someone please advise what I need to do to fix this problem?

If using the DBRW to see the true error, open the hidden folder /_fpclass/ and edit the fpdbrgn1.inc file
At about line 19, change :
fp_DEBUG = False
to :
fp_DEBUG = True

Then explain the error you are getting

Thanks for that suggestion, now I have a number of errors including:

Database Results Wizard Error
The database connection named 'Database1' is undefined.

This problem can occur if:
* the connection has been removed from the web
* the file 'global.asa' is missing or contains errors
* the root folder does not have Scripting permissions enabled
* the web is not marked as an Application Root

What do these mean?

Start by making sure your Access DB is recognized by the FP site and the global.asa correctly
In your FP Site (running under the FP SE)
Select your Access Db file and File Export it to your desktop
Now Delete it from your FP site
Running Tools Site Setting Database should show no DB connections
- if the old one still exists select remove
Then File Import the Access DB from your desktop and when asked by FP agree to FP placing it in the fpdb folder
- you can name it Database1, or some other useful functional name,
(but if you rename it you will need to redo your DBRW)
Now check for the DB connection in Tools Site Setting Database Verify

Hello Stfan,

I've exported and removed any remnance of that database from FP, both
locally and remotely, but I'm still getting the same error. How do I ensure
my FP site recognises the DB and the global.asa is set correctly?

Hi Stefan,

No, still no joy. It appears to be a common error from what I've discovered
during my google searches. Are there any codes I can amend in the global.asa
in order to overcome this issue?

Stefan,

I keep getting this error:
Database Results Wizard Error
The database connection named 'Database1' is undefined.

This problem can occur if:
* the connection has been removed from the web
* the file 'global.asa' is missing or contains errors
* the root folder does not have Scripting permissions enabled
* the web is not marked as an Application Root

|
|

And?
Is the name the same as your DBRW is using: Database1
When you select it there and select verify does it verify OK
- if so your Global.asa is correct
Have you tried recreating or editing your DBRW since you have added the DB correctly per above checks

Hi Stefan,

Well in that case, my global.asa is fine. Recreat it again? I'll try.
