I have recently bought an new laptop with Windows Vista. I am trying to
import all my contacts and messages from Microsoft Outlook (Windows XP). My
new computer says my Microsoft Outlook is not configured? I have networked
my two computers and put my .pst files in shared folder. But when trying to
import my messages it does not "see" my .pst files???? Not sure what I am
doing wrong here?? Can anyone give me a step by step on how I can transfer
across the files. Thanks a mil!!

Your new computer apparantly came without Outlook installed. Windows Mail
won't import .pst files without part of Outlook to help.

You've got two choices: Install Outlook, version 2003 or later, or a
software
package containing it, under Vista. Or, first transfer the files to Outlook
Express
on your old computer, then transfer the messages from Outlook Express on
the
old computer to Windows Mail on the new computer. New machines often
come with a temporary trial version of Outlook, so if yours did, you can run
it long enough to do the transfer.

You can't directly import a .pst file into Windows Mail, unless you install
Outlook on the Vista computer.
IF you have Outlook 2003 or newer, I would just use that.
