Use the wizard and you will have the options to use CD/Cable/Floppy..etc.

Read the info here and apply when you familiar with the procedure.

What operating system is on your new computer?

In any case - you should demand your new computer (the manufacturer thereof)
supply you with actual installation CDs *now*.

Files and Settings Transfer Wizard is built into the install of Windows XP.
Make sure both systems are fully updated.

Theres no legal requirement for a manufacturer to supply any disk, other
than a means of recovering the PC to factory spec

I did not mention legalities...

I think consumers should demand the best product and service available to
them. Not providing someone with an external and universal method of
reinstalling their operating system and software onto their machine in the
worst case scenario should not - imo - be something a wise consumer should
allow.

And in this case - the OP stated this was a new machine - other than just
prior to purchasing, this consumer has more pull and influence over what
they get for their money than further in the future.

Now - perhaps I am mistaken - it may just be 'new' to the OP...

But that doesn't lessen the point... IMO consumers should ensure they
obtain actual installation media and not recovery media or partitions.
