Transfer content to collection

I have an old version 1.1.2427.1 of MovieMaker, would the newer version
available for download (2.1) be able to use the .mov files that I have on my
DV camera. I cannot change the format recorded by my camera. If not, how can
I change the format from .mov to mpeg or something suitable.
