tracking opened files

Does windows/2k3 maintain who accessed files and when they did? I'm
interesed in more info than can be found on the file's properties menu.
If it matters, this is in a domain enviornment and the file was
accessed via a shared folder.

Have you tried File auditing under Properties --> Security --> Advanced
?
