Trackball button - initiates 'go back'

Hi,

In applications that have a 'go back' feature like a web browser or Explorer
(file manager) my top right trackball button sends the 'go back' command.

Not wanting this kind of configurability in the 4 button trackball I
deliberately did not install the Kensington Expert Mouse (which is what the
trackball is called even though it's not a mouse!) drivers, letting Windows
XP SP2 use its own.

My problem is that I have a physical disability (not full hand movement) and
so I regularly knock the top right button accidentally, most annoying when
web browsing.

The bottom left and right buttons function as normal for left and right
clicking and the top left button appears to do nothing and does not do 'go
forward' as one might expect given what the top right button does.

'Control Panel -> Mouse' offers no way of configuring the top 2 buttons and
as I said there are no manufacturers drivers installed to do this kind of
behaviour.

Any ideas how I stop this from happening?

Many thanks.

As I see it - you do want this type of configurability for your trackball
and you should install the software that came with it. No doubt you will be
able to assign actions to the buttons as you desire then - likely 'none' if
that is what you want.

Thanks for replying. I don't really want to install their drivers as I will
then also be forced to have their horrid software running permanently and
displayed as yet another icon in the cluttered notification area (near the
clock) on my taskbar. I've very happy with the current drivers except for
the top right button problem. Is there no way to configure this behaviour in
my current setup, EG. Registry, TweakUI, etc.?

Thanks again.
