Track Changes

Has anyone figured out how to set Word so that when you open a document
it does NOT automatically open with the track changes on? I have tried
saving it when the changes are turned off (final) and closed and
re-opened it but it still seems to open with the track changes on.

Thanks!

Hidden /= gone. "Turned off (final)" means you're just hiding the changes;
they're still there, and MS wants to be sure you realize that so you don't
inadvertently send the document out with markup visible. You can Accept All
Changes in Document and Delete All Comments in Document, in which case there
will be no markup to view. Or you can take your changes with disabling the
option to "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving." Just keep in
mind that there's a reason this is on the Security tab of Tools | Options.

Thanks Suzanne. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work. I did
Tools/Options/Security tab and made the change you provided. When I do this,
save the document and reopen it, it still re-opens with the Final Showing
Markup mode. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

You're not the first to report this. I guess the only option is to accept
the changes.
