That's EOR to you -- Equal Opportunity Ragger. ;-)

That's Leftist Queer Moron.
You're nothing but a dumb-ass home user that has a home network and went and
got yourself a Linksys using Kerio on the machines , and you sneaked up on
Win 2K and think you know something.

I made over $1 million in computers. You couldn't make that much in 10
lifetimes.
I think your son knows more than you
and held your hand every step of the way. ;-)

That would be rather difficult since he wasn't born when I got into
computers.
Hey, I was minding my own business and here you come Sky King Bobby.

Minding your own business means spreading lies.

Does your mommy know you're playing with her computer while she's out
whoring?

Whatever the Hell you're talking about Bobby, which I am not bothering to
read anymore, you're right. I agree with you. You're right whatever you're
talking about you're right. ;-)

I agree with you Bobby.

Now I am going back to the game and see if San Antonio can get a game in
Detroit.

Bobby you're right. ;-)

Well *righteous* Bobby, *Big Play Bobby* for San Antonio put the 3 point

I use to use TCPview too but switched to Active Ports which not only told me
the connection statues by a program but what program was doing it or was
being used as a host by another program. You can set AP's refresh rate to
high to get a good pitcure of traffic flow on the machine.

You may be able to use Process Explorer to reveal some more information to
you about a running process. You can right-click a process in the upper
pane/Properties and it will give a lot info about the process and what is
using it.

I think i have just about given up on Norton AntiViros 2001 program.
It seems that it is impossible to edit Netscape 7.2's PREFS.JS file
to make NAV work.
TCPView gave the best idea of what might be happening, but it was not
complete.
The ProcessExplorer sounds like the ideal program for this task, and
i will keep it in mind.
However, i am getting tired of running in circles and getting nowhere.
I just want a damn AV program that will check the email as it comes
in, and check files only wheni ask it to do that.
I have installed AVG, but i do not know how to verify that it is
indeed looking at incoming email.
Any ideas there?

Scanning incoming email is a waste of time and is very prone to errors and
hang-ups.

If you foolishly try to open an infected attachement (even from known
persons that are infected) then the anti virus application will pop up a
warning that the attachement is infected.

Yeah, don't get me stated with Norton.

I use NOD32 which I switched to from Norton and have been using for a couple
of years now and I am happy with it.

NOD32 has never had any problems checking incoming email.

NOD32 does have a resident scanner which you can disable Amon so that it
will not scan files.

The virus definition file is updated on a routine basis.

NOD32 is light on the resources.

NOD32 is much faster than Norton on total scan time of a HDD.

You can try the full trial version and see if it meets your needs.

I hope something works out for you.

Good thought, I gave up on all things Norton some time ago.

Avast will do that. Just set the Internet Mail client to scan
incoming mail/news, the "Custom" menu. Open Avast whenever you like
and scan selected files, drives or the entire system.
I have installed AVG, but i do not know how to verify that it is
indeed looking at incoming email.

With Avast you get a notation in the header of incoming mail:
"X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0524-6, 06/18/2005), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean". This is also true of news group
downloads. I accidentally downloaded an infected binary file and
Avast jumped right on it.

BTW, Avast can be set for automatic or manual, it will notify you
when an update is available, updates. Update frequency is twice/week
minimum, sometimes several times/day.

He seems to want an "on-demand" AV and an active e-mail AV scanner. Not
such a bad idea if your good enough to use it effectively. The e-mail AV
might help detect e-mail client exploit based active worms before they
hit the client application.

But then, if you're good enough to use on-demand scanning effectively,
then you are probably good enough to not use the popular attack vector
clients.

Must agree there, you never know when a thought to be safe client
suddenly has a vulnerability exploited.
