Toolbar on the left side of the desktop

Hi,
A little embarrassing question...

On my computer at home (XP), my son "did something" and after that we have
the Start button in the upper left corner, and the toolbar along the left
side of the screen.
I've tried the obvious (I think): dragging the toolbar, right-click on the
toolbar to find an option where you select the placing of the toolbar etc.
But I don't know how to do. Help!

Right-click the taskbar on any gray empty area, and deselect
'Lock Taskbar' if it is selected;
Then Left-click, hold, and drag the taskbar to the bottom of your screen.
In it's unlocked state you should be able to drag the taskbar to any of
the four sides of your display (top, left, right, bottom).
Once it is in the desired position you can right-click it again and
reactivate the lock to prevent accidental moves.

First, note that it's called the "task bar," not the "toolbar."

Although by default the task bar appears on the bottom of the screen,
it can be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any
side to another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it
where you want it. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge;
clicking on the edge and dragging will resize it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

It was as simple as that - unlock the taskbar...!
I had the feeling that it was something easy which I should have understood.
But sometimes the obvious is too obvious....

Thanks a lot!
