Every now and then, the XP shell starts showing its tool-
tip popups for the icons in the task bar (while hovering
over an icon) BEHIND the task bar. This basically makes
the popups useless because they appear behind the task
bar and don't show much except maybe a small amount of
border. I think the problem begins occurring after I've
connected to my computer using the remote host feature,
but I can't verify this. The only way I can get the
tool-tips to popup properly in front of the task bar
again is to reboot.
I frequently have many windows open, which reduces the
amount of text next to the icon in the task bar. The pop-
up really helps me find the window (when it appears in
front of the task bar), especially when I have multiple
instances of the same app running.
Is this a windows XP shell bug or is there some setting
(or something other than rebooting) that I can do to make
the pop-up appear in front of the task bar?
