Dave,
it appears that when I reply to your posts that my email gets bumped and I
get that mail deilivery subsytem message. Here were what came when I
entered those functions, supplying the address of two separate but blank
cells in the column.
I get True in the first and 0 in the second

This is a followup to the question about using conditional formatting on column
J to indicate the empty cells.

The two formulas were =isblank(J#) and =len(J#) for the cell that didn't get
formatted correctly.

I'm gonna guess that there was a mistake in the way Format|Conditional
formatting was applied ('cause those results look ok).

Select J1.
Hit ctrl-spacebar

Now hit format|conditional formatting.
You should see Formula is: =J1=""
and if you click on the format button, then pattern Tab|then select a nice fill
color.

Make sure you ok your way out.

Most of this has already been posted, but double checking/redoing can't hurt.

Yeah, that fixed it. What was in the box was this ="J1="" I had an extra
quote in there somehow. My bad.
