After having suddenly lost image thumbnails for some but not all of my
tif/tiff's in Windows Explorer, I was able to get most back with KB192573 and
Steve Parry's registry merge link which worked great for jpeg's, jpg's, (and
even psd's, which were not among the file types listed!). I applied the same
procedure to tif and tiff formats even though they too were not on the list
of file formats included in the fix. It nevertheless worked fine for most,
but some of the tif/tiff thumbnails still show an icon instead of the image
while others are still all or partially solid black. This can be within a
single folder. I refer to tif files which used to have image thumbnails in my
Explorer. The partially black ones look as though a 'scanner' (?) stopped
somewhere along the way---it's always the upper part that is image with
differing amounts of the rest a solid black. Sometimes all solid black. The
images open fine in all programs and have image thumbnails in all other
viewers and browsers, so it's something in Windows Explorer. Hope Steve
Parry will read this...!
Thanks to anyone who can help. (I'm 2KPro, so please do not send me replies
which are only good for XP.) Thanks!
