I cannot get the spell to work and I'm very frustrated. This is a feture I
desire and I want it to work. How?

G

I had this error message and I solved it by clicking on Tools, Options,
Spelling Tab, then I selected the language and clicked on Apply, then ok. It
seemed to work for me even though the correct language appeared to be
showing already.

Hi richard,

I had the same problem with this. What happened was that I clicked on a
email address in excel which popped up the create new message screen to send
a new email. When I looked in the Tool menu I did not see the Options that
others were mentioning. What I did was start from the begining and went to
the START menu selected Mail and choose the TOOL menu that showed the OPTION
menu.

Although English was already selected I reselected it and also checked the
box that ask if you want spell checker to check spelling before sending and
clicked APPLY this is very important before closing the window, again click
APPLY then close this should solve your problem.

The registry setting looks correct.

Alternately, you may use the following REG file to set the default spell check language:
http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/spellchk_settings.reg

Download the file to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge. Click "Yes" to confirm. Note that this REG file does not bring back the language options in the "Spelling" tab dropdown box, but sets English as the default language. Let's know how this goes.

You need to chose any other language, click apply, then chose your language

THE PROBLEM IS:

Under TOOLS, SPELLING, etc., there IS NO other language option given. it
just default to "this language is not available for spell checking." Have
you actually tried it, or is that just what your manual says?
