The term standalone

I was trying to install windows 2003 sp2 server (fresh instal not upgrade). i am confused with one term and term is "standalone version". I was looking at install guide where it mentioned "Installing Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Standalone Version".
My question is what do they mean by standalone and what is the other version?

Presumably they mean installing it to one machine rather than a Network of two or more machines.

Installing that OS can be carried out to a whole Network from the main machine, if required.
