It should be 5 by 5. What i mean is jdjdj-jdjdj-jdjdj-jdjdj-jdjdj

Also, make sure that if you do find one of these, that it is meant for your
cd. I mean a dell cd for a dell product key, hp for hp and oem install for
oem. It will tell you on your install cd and it should say it next to the
product key.

Are you sure the producy id you have is for xp??

Andrew;
Product Key or Product ID?
They are two different things with different purposes.
You enter the Product Key to install not the Product ID.

What is the source of the Product Key and CD?
Are they both Microsoft original or copies?

The Product *ID* is created during the installation process and is
prominently displayed on the General Properties tab of the My Computer
icon.

The Product *Key* is required to perform the installation, and is
either stored on the CD packaging on a bright orange sticker that says
"Do not lose this number," or is on a label affixed to an OEM
computer.
