THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED OR DNS ERROR

Recently I have encountered the problem of not being able
to access secure web sites and/or complete transations. I
get the error message 'THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED OR DNS
ERROR". I have DSL and use a wireless router with that.
I have downloaded both the Internet Explorer 6 SP1 update
as well as the Cummulative Security update for Internet
Explorer and neither one of those have solved the
problem. If anyone could give me some feedback as to what
they think the problem is with a plausible resolution I
would greatly appreciate it.
