the link bar feature is not available in this web

Hi, Im currently getting "the link bar feature is not available in this web"
when I open existing frontpage 2003 websites, or when I create new pages
based around the wizard that would allow a user to create their own website.

Any help would be appreciated.

The site must be hosted on a server running the FP2000 extensions

Correction: Should be the FP2002 extensions.

Hi, the site is running on W2K3 and was running fine up until 2 hours ago.
No service packs have been installed / de-installed. It seems that LINK BARS
are just not being displayed. The issue is within the Frontpage package
itself, rather than an issue on where the site is published too.

Hey Tom, I've a new observation. From Frontpage I can view in a browser the
site (before publishing) and the link bars are displayed.
However, from within Frontpage I am not able to see the link bar as the
message "The link bar feature is not available in this web" appears.

Any suggestions you can give would be much appreciated. Please apreciate
that Im not a frontpage wizard, my speciality is around messging servers.
Thus a semi detailed explaining please. Cheers

Did / Do you have Optimize HTML enabled during publishing?

Hi Tom,
I have not turned on optimize HTML.

Below shows the problem. You'll see that in the photo section there is a
picture of a mountain which I copied straight out of the frontpage screen
(not a browser). However dispite the fact you can see the image below, when
I was in Frontpage I could not see the graphics. In fact I cannot see any
graphics whilst in Frontpage, yet i see them if I view the page in a
browswer or publish it to a web site.
Is there a way that I could have turned off a feature on Frontpage from
displaying graphics on the screen ?

Thanks for your help thus far

Ed, you do have the site open and not just a page, correct?

Since the problem is on your home page make sure the file name for the home page is that required by your host, and that in Nav View
it has the home icon in it

Hi Stefan.
When I open frontpage 2003 and then open a NEW site based upon the 'personal
Website' template, everything comes up fine except for these two issues:
1) A message that says "The Page Banner feature is not available in this
web"
2) A messsage that says, "The link bar feature is not available in this web"

Note, this is within Frontpage, Im not talking about publishing and the
issue does not revolve around hosting !

For love nor money I cannot see the LINKBAR from within the DESIGN WINDOW,
however I can see it from the PREVIEW WINDOW.

Regards

ED
