Well this has us tearing our hair out. The users are not happy one
bit.

It's neither :

Cleanfreebusy and Cleanreminders switches have been run. No rules are
set up.

- Delgate creates meeting on behalf
- Attendee accepts
- Delegate changes a detail, either time or adds an attendee
- This message is displayed when trying to Send Update.
- "The item could not be saved because it has been changed by
another person. Do you want to save a copy in your default Calendar
folder? If you click Yes, you need to copy and paste your changes from
the "copy of" item in your default folder into a new update for this
meeting."


Occasionally, the attendee gets a message when trying to accept either
the initial message, or the update : "The function cannot be performed
because the message has been changed."

I would ask the delegate to show me how they make the edits.

It sounds like the Delegate is opening the meeting from their
own calendar and making the edits. The Delegate needs to
open the appointment in the Owners calendar to make the
edits, and then send the update.

Only the owner can edit the original meeting and have it stick.

Not sure what you mean. Why would the appointment appear in the
delegates calendar if it's only the Owner and the person they've
invited who appear in scheduling? It's definitely not a user error.

This is showing that Outlook clearly recognized the Delegate as
themselves (Not a delegate). This tells me they are on their own
calendar when they are making the edit. Outlook tells them this.

The only other possible problem may be that the Delegate has
only the rights to CREATE (Author), but not to change (Editor).
This may explain the problem.

The PA/Sec is often "Owner" - certainly in the tests I've done. They
are creating an appointment in the calendar of their boss, inviting
one other person. How would it then appear in their own calendar?

This is an intermittent problem. This therefore rules out "user
error", aside from the fact I have spent hours on theis and would not
miss such a basic error.

You may be having a forms issue.

- Does the boss (or the delegate) use a custom form?
- Have you tried clearing the forms cache? (I can send the info if you
need it)
- You may want to delete all forms used by Outlook and
refresh them for the clients.
- Are all your clients using the same version of Outlook?
