text clarity on lcd monitors

Hi, does anyone know about a feature within xp which
allows a clearer view of text on lcd monitors? I bought a
LG 18" LCD and the text quality is poor (ie hard on the
eyes). I heard there is a command in xp which makes a
significant difference to clarity of text on lcds.

The feature is called Clear Type.
This link

will explain it, and help you set it up.

It's really only intended for LCD displays, it doesn't look very good on
most CRT monitors.

Right click desktop/properties/effects/put a check mark in "use the
following method to smooth bla blah"/dropdown choose cleartype.
