Terminal Services says max logon limit

D

Dan

Hello,

Im trying to log into my Win 2000 Server using Remote Desktop
Connectio, however it says that terminal server has reached the
maximun number of allowed connections.

What I think has happened is that I logged in but not disconeccter
properly. How can I disconnect properly, or terminate the current
connection, so that it releases those slots so I can connect again?

Thanks,
DT

Hi Dan,

See the followign information from Terminal Services Manager help file:
To reset a session

1.. Open Terminal Services Manager.
2.. Right-click the session you want to reset, and then click Reset.

The session is immediately deleted from the server.

Notes

a.. You can always reset your own sessions, but you must have Full Control
permission to reset a session belonging to another user.
b.. To open Terminal Services Manager, click Start, click Control Panel,
double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Terminal Services
Manager.
c.. Be aware that resetting a user's session without warning can result in
loss of data on the session.
d.. Reset a session only when it malfunctions or appears to have stopped
responding.
e.. If you reset a listener session, all sessions that use the connection
are reset.
f.. You can also use the reset session command to reset a session.

To log off a user from a session

1.. Open Terminal Services Manager.
2.. On the Users tab, right-click the name of the user you want to log off
from a session, and then click Log Off.
Caution

a.. Logging off a user from a session without warning can result in loss
of data at the user's session. Instead, send a message to the user using
Send Message on the Actions menu to warn the user before taking this action.
Notes

a.. You can always log off from your own sessions, but you must have Full
Control permission to log off another user from a session.
b.. To open Terminal Services Manager, click Start, click Control Panel,
double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Terminal Services
Manager.
c.. When you log off a user, all processes end and the session is deleted
from the server.
d.. You can also use the logoff command to log off a user from a session.
e.. You cannot log off a user from the console session.

Hope this helps,
