Templates - whats a fast way to access them when creating a new do

Seems to me there has to be an easier way to open a template than search
through directories to get it. Is there any way to select a template from the
main menu in word. Whe you select Tools, Templates and Add-ins nothing seems
to change ....

File > New (> On this computer in Word 2003)
Or add the dialog directly to your menu using customize. The command is
FileNewDialog.

Or - see http://addbalance.com/word/templatesmenu.htm.

Select Tools | Customize.
Activate the Commands tab (if necessary)
Select "All Commands" in the list of Categories on the left hand side.
Select FileNewDialog in the list of Commands on the right hand side.
Drag this to a convenient locaiton on your toolbar.
Right-click the new toolbar button, and modify it as desired - you can
change its caption, style, etc.
Close the Customize dialog when you're done.
