some tech sites says to disable telephony service and some say do not
disable ,
whats the facts? i got window home sp2

Why do you want to disable the telephony service ?

Some say for a security issue, it could be exploited by melcious attackers
and some say for Performance issue.
The more you have runing Prossors/Services in the background the more the
Performance is decreases, to disable this service you can open the Run
command and type in :
services.msc click [OK] and there see what service you don't need to run.

thanks for your reply , sure do appreciate it. not going to disable
telephony
i am just trying to disable what i dont need it was taking my computer over
five min.
to shut down after i have disable 11 services it shuts down in less then 1
min.
dont know if disabling the services done it or something else.

It's not the number of services running that's causing a delay in shutdown.
One of the services could be hanging up for some reason. The best way to
investigate this is to do some clean boot troubleshooting.
