TCP/IP Error Message

K

Kishan Advani

Here is the exact text of the error message that I get
from FrontPage2000 application on my XP computer.

"Accessing HTTP servers requires 32-bit TCP/IP networking
which is not installed, or may be misconfigured. Would
you like help on how to install it?"

Windows XP is all 32-bit and I assume the currently
installed and working TCP/IP networking is 32-bit too.

I've tried to search support.microsoft.com and several
user forums on Windows XP and FrontPage. The only
relevant page I have been able to find so far is located
at

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q
179/2/67.asp&NoWebContent=1

Unfortunately, this too deals with FP97: 32-bit TCP/IP
Missing Error after Installing Winsock 2.0 on Windows 98
etc. so I am hesitant to try that process for the fear of
corrupting my Windows XP too.

I've tried re-installing FrontPage 2000 and TCP/IP
networking is behaving fine with all other applications
except the FP2000

Grateful for any help/suggestions with resolving this
problem or where else can I look for additional help.

Thanks.

The error message is misleading and you are right in that the KB doesn't
apply to XP.

Is Internet Explorer working OK on this machine? Are you getting an IP
address?
